THE SANTA ANITA INN, Arcadia – A Smart Stay in the City

The hotel has its ups and downs. While being part of the inn with long-time residents could affect the ambiance, the room I stayed in, which seemed like a converted storage space, definitely needed a makeover, especially the bathroom. However, the staff was accommodating, especially when we had issues with our room. The location near Santa Anita Race Track was convenient, but the closed facilities were a bit disappointing. The dining options were simple but satisfactory, albeit not very lavish.

My stay at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. The room I checked into initially was small and in need of updating, giving off a dreary and hot vibe. However, the staff promptly responded to my discomfort by upgrading me to a better room with an acceptable mattress. The service was impeccable, especially in arranging all our rooms together. The location, amidst the San Gabriel Mountains, was superb, offering beautiful surroundings. The dining experience was a bit underwhelming, but the fresh French patisseries made up for it. Overall, the facilities were decent, though some updates would enhance the experience.

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms were pretty basic, but if you request an upgrade, they can offer better-equipped suites which are spacious and great for family gatherings. However, there was a lingering cigarette smell in the non-smoking room, and noise could be an issue due to the lack of modern soundproofing.

The hotel rooms were a bit dreary and hot, with musicians playing loudly until late in the evening, but the long-term residents section was somewhat better despite needing an update. The service was a mix of basic breakfast and helpful, friendly staff, though some noise disturbances occurred. The location was excellent for family swimming and near a famous horse racing track, making it a lovely setting. The dining options were simple but good, with room for improvement. Overall, the facilities were in need of updating but still functional.

Despite heavy renovation and the need for upgrades like chips on the bath tub, the stay was still decent. The service was a mixed bag with tree cutting noise but friendly and helpful staff who responded promptly to issues like a bad bed. The location was pleasant with nice gardens and proximity to attractions like the horsetrack and restaurants, though the breakfast options were limited. Overall, the facilities were satisfactory with some room for improvement.
